Leigh Woods Residents

Set up in 1994, the aims of the Leigh Woods Society are:

‘To further the interests of residents and to preserve and protect the amenities of the area for the benefit of residents. We look at local issues and represent the community in dealing with important local bodies. We disseminate useful information and provide a network within which to socialise locally, notably at our ever popular summer and winter parties’.

As such, all residents are encouraged to join the Leigh Woods Society when they arrive in the area.

In order to achieve our aims for the area, we have established a committee of local residents in Leigh woods who meet regularly to discuss and progress matters of interest for all. On a day to day basis, we look at issues regarding planning, roads and other concerns of residents and comment on the activities of our neighbours, Leigh Woods (National Trust), Ashton Court (Bristol City Council) and the Clifton Suspension Bridge (Their Trustees) which have consequences for Leigh Woods residents.

The strength of our voice on planning and representative matters is directly related to the number of our members and their interest, so we encourage all residents to get to know their old and new neighbours and join. The annual cost is small and helps cover our overheads and organising events (our rates have not changed in 19 years - who else can claim that!).
