Summer Parties

The weather forecast was right! The rain cleared late in the afternoon so guests were able to enjoy the gardens at The Old Vicarage in sunshine again. Over one hundred signed up for the party and we welcomed several new residents, who had come to meet the 'locals'.

The marquee was up to house the Bar, which as usual, did a good trade and lots of canapés were eaten with enthusiasm. We were pleased to see so many children this year and they made good use of the space and table-tennis table.

Kate made a presentation to our Treasurer, Bob Whiffen, and thanked him for all his hard work on the committee. We are sorry to see him leaving Leigh Woods.

Our thanks go to Michael and Lynne Bothamley for allowing us to share their delightful home again (as they hosted the 2014 Summer Party too) and being such helpful, welcoming hosts.

Christmas Parties

For two years the Boss family invited us to their festive and spacious home for the Christmas Party. They provided a warm welcome and the children added a wonderful dimension to the festivities by enthusiastically serving mince pies whilst the bar was well manned providing plenty of libations for the company. The 2013 Christmas Party was hosted by Jane and David Worthington. The 2014 Christmas Party was hosted again by Anna and Jonny Boss and was well attended and very enjoyable. The 30’ Xmas tree dominated the hall and the extended space allowed everyone to socialise easily. Xmas Party 2014

Annual Spring Clean

Each Spring a band of cheerful volunteers have cleared litter and debris from the pavements, hedges and verges in Leigh Woods. This year, the ‘Spring-clean’ took place on Saturday 11 April 2015. 18 people turned up at the Vestry for coffee then armed with litter pickers volunteered to clear particular roads. This year we collected 14 bags in total. Many thanks to those who turned out and worked so hard while chatting, and to Jane Worthington who organised it all and to Gregg Brake, our North Somerset Area Officer, who provided bags and litter pickers.
