Aston Court Estate and Mansion are directly across the A369 road to Portishead. As with the Leigh Woods Forest whih is owned by the National Trust, it is of importance to all in Leigh Woods. A specialist study funded by Bristol City Council and English Heritage has now been started to look into how to secure the long-term future of Ashton Court Mansion. All residents in the Bristol and Somerset areas are invited to come forward with their views on its future uses.
Visitors to the mansion will know its grand fašade, the mellow stone frontage, imposing oak entrance hall and stunning reception room with magnificent fireplace. However, behind the scenes, the mansion – some of it dating back over 400 years – needs some urgent attention. A major restoration and conservation programme is required along with an imaginative and creative solution for its future use.
